Proud to march w my SPW community at Denver this weekend during our Saturday morning Executive Committee meeting. We connected outside of the meeting room, laughed, and aspired for more ways to advocate.
This quote below came from my roadside interview w an NPR reporter. (I made corrections here for some commas, etc, which other Oxford comma fans know make all the differences...) https://www.kunc.org/post/its-third-year-denver-s-womxn-s-march-strives-unity-and-action#stream/0 “It’s really important to be very intentional and thoughtful about being very inclusive for the womxn’s march; how do we think about womxn’ right? Is it just cisgender women?” I said a lot more, including the continuing discussions of anti-semitism and lack of diversity in the movement. Since it was not included, I will share them here, including some additional reflections from the amazing week starting with the Academic Feminist Leadership Academy on Tuesday and Wednesday, followed by National Multicultural Conference & Summit, and ending with APA Div35 SPW Executive Committee meetings from Friday evening through Sunday morning. No movement is perfect. No organization is perfect. We do not tolerate any isms or oppressions; be it sexism, racism, heterosexism, transphobia, islamophobia, anti-semitism, erasure of our indigenous peoples, etc., the list goes on and on. I stand with those who want to fight for injustices for all. I stand with those who want to fight white supremacy and patriarchy’s efforts to divide our communities and advocacy efforts. I stand with those who commit to hold ourselves and each other accountable so we do not transgress each other in the name of our own advocacy efforts. It was a good Saturday morning at Denver being at the March. It was a good weekend being with my SPW intersectional feminist community renewing our energy and commitment to fight for patriarchy and injustices for all.
